Mattress removal in Edison, NJ

Booking takes about a minute. Pick your items and a pickup day, put the mattress out that morning, and we'll load it and take it away. Most of our Edison pickups are curbside, so there's nothing to wrap and no trip to make.

From there it goes to our local recycling facility, where our team takes it apart by hand. The foam gets baled for carpet padding, the steel springs go to scrap processors, and box-spring wood gets chipped. Here's the whole process if you want to see it.

Edison and New Jersey mattress disposal rules

Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Edison's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

  1. What Edison asks for if you use city pickup

These are Department of Public Works' requirements, not ours — they apply if you're putting the mattress out for the city rather than booking a pickup with us.

    • MATTRESSES & BOX SPRINGS: Must be wrapped and sealed in plastic to be collected when you have a scheduled pick-up date or during the spring and fall clean-up programs.
    • TWO bulk pick-ups can be scheduled per year in addition to the Spring and Fall clean-up for Municipal pick-up areas only WHEN APPOINTMENTS ARE AVAILABLE.
    • Please report any illegal dumping or the use of this collection by non-residents or scavenger collectors to the Edison Police Department at 732-248-7400.
    • Any materials placed curbside prior to receiving a scheduled pick-up date WILL NOT be collected by the Township.
    • Their accepted list is furniture: Sofas, chairs, tables, all box springs and/or mattresses have to be wrapped & sealed in plastic. — it doesn't name mattresses either way, so ask before you put one out.
    • No Bulk or Special pick-ups can be scheduled for Private garbage districts for ANY reason.
    • Some things they won't take at the curb at all, including unwrapped mattresses and/or box springs.

What Department of Public Works says about collection

Bulk items and Special Pick-Ups are available in Municipal Garbage Districts ONLY. It lists mattresses among the items it will not take.
