Booking with us? You can skip this part. Everything below is for handling it yourself — Big Island's rules, the fees and the drop-off options. If we're doing the pickup, the regulations and the recycling are ours to deal with: you leave it at the curb and we take it from there.

1. What Big Island asks for

   These are County of Hawai‘i Department of Environmental Management's requirements, not ours.

   • Customer shall secure their loads by tying and/or covering them upon arrival at the Transfer Station to prevent spillage.
   • Vehicle types utilizing the Transfer Stations are limited to sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, or vans. Dump bed trucks are prohibited.
   • Where to put it: the maximum solid waste item size shall be 7 feet or less in any dimension.
   • You get Maximum one (1) residential load (rubbish or construction & demolition material) per day. per address.
   • Any person violating any section of the Admin Rules shall be subject to an initial civil fine of $250.00 for each violation.
   • On what they won't take at the curb: no hard bulky items, such as hide-a-beds with metal frames. Customers shall take hard bulky items directly to the East Hawai‘i Reload Facility or West Hawai‘i Sanitary Landfill.
