Here are a few factors that are important to consider when buying a mattress topper and deciding which is right for you.
Density – In general the higher the density of the foam within your topper the more support it will provide and the more expensive it will be. For an every night sleeping option we generally do not recommend a topper that has less than a 4lb density.
Material – Decide what you need out of your topper and which material will provide that for you. Memory foam has unbeatable pressure relief while latex foam is natural and has hypoallergenic properties as well as great support and bounce.
Thickness– Mattress toppers vary in thickness from 1-4. A 1″ topper will obviously be much cheaper than a 4″ topper but do not let that coax you into purchasing a thin topper, as this will likely not achieve the comfort goals that you are looking for from your topper. We usually recommend at least a 3″ topper to feel any sort of benefits, while. 2″ topper may be sufficient for lighter individuals.
Price – Price can vary drastically form mattress toppers and in general it is important to follow the golden rule. “You get what you pay for”. his is especially true with mattress toppers as they are all foam and the difference between a high priced topper and a low priced topper is usually just the quality of foam that they are providing, even though they may look exactly the same.
Manufacturing location- We always recommend purchasing sleep products that are made in the USA. Some of the foams coming out of Asia do not meet the quality standards that companies have here in the US.
