What do you put under a mattress on an adjustable bed?

You do not need to put anything under your mattress when putting it on a an adjustable bed base! Adjustable beda comes standard with built in platform to support your mattress and yourself. This means no box spring, no bunk board, etc… An adjustable bed is an all-in-one bed frame solution. Just put your mattress on top and you are all set. 

How thick should a mattress be for an adjustable bed?

The thickness of a mattress when used on an adjustable base is important to consider. In general we recommend not purchasing a mattress that is thicker than 14″ at the maximum and no thinner than 8″ at thinnest. If the mattress is too thick it will not be able to bend as far and if it is too thin you will not get the support you need out of the mattress and may feel pressure points of the adjustable bed when in certain positions. A 10-12″ mattress thickness would be ideal for an adjustable bed. 

Can you use a spring mattress on an adjustable bed?

You can only use a pocketed coil spring mattress on an adjustable base. You cannot use a traditional innerspring mattress. The good news is that much of the mattress industry has begun to use pocketed coils instead of innerspring units. Pocketed coils move individually and are able to function with an adjustable bed without compromising the structure, whereas an innerspring unit is not meant to be bent.
